Mary Johnson

Mary Yvonne Johnson, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born July 12, 1951, in Dutchtown to Eddie Singleton and Louise Cardwell.

She worked in health care more than 30 years, and was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include sons, Anthony (LaTicia) Robinson of Cape Girardeau and Marshall Egson of Killeen, Texas; daughter, Kyley (Gasner) Mersier of Cape Girardeau; brothers, Ricky Cardwell of Cape Girardeau and Melvin Neal of Cape Girardeau; uncle, Silas Cardwell of Nashville, Tennessee; special friends, William Corruthers of Cape Girardeau and Angela Smith of Cape Girardeau; stepsisters, Yulanda Singleton of Mississippi, Charita McCarrol of Mississippi, Sherry Ridley of Indiana, Gwendolyn Bailey of Texas and Sylvia Glymph of Indiana; 23 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at noon Saturday, Oct. 22, at the church, with Pastor Juliet Hemphill officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Ford and Sons Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
