LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Mary Louise Steinnerd Jansen, 92, of Leopold passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at her residence.
She was born April 23, 1925, at Leopold, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Landewee Steinnerd. She married Luke Robert Jansen on June 28, 1947, at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.
Mary was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold and St. Anne Ladies Sodality PCCW. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau and went on to become a teacher for two years at Leopold. She then began her homemaking career, raising 10 children with her husband.
Mary is the loving mother of Michael (Marilyn) Jansen of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Larry (Sheila) Jansen of Springfield, Missouri, the late Stanley (Marilyn) Jansen of Leopold, Pamela (Dennis) Horrell of Leopold, Norman (JoEllen) Jansen of Leopold, Gerald (Leeann) Jansen of Leopold, Lindy (Cindy) Jansen of Leopold, Rick (Tami) Jansen of Festus, Missouri, Sheila Irvin of Leopold and Eva Jansen of Leopold; sister of Melvin Steinnerd of Jackson, Geraldine Elfrink of Leopold and Eloise Nenninger of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; and beloved grandmother of 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and three on the way.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Norbert and Herman Steinnerd; one sister, Irma Stause; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Birthright or Options for Women.
A funeral Mass was conducted Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Interment took place in the church cemetery.
