W. Louis and Frona Switzer welcomed home their daughter, Mary Allyene Hotop, on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023. She was greeted by her husband of 68 years of marriage, Robert W. Hotop. Her brothers, Robert Newbern and William "Bill/Buddy" Switzer, along with her daughter, Cheryl Acup; son, Richard, and son-in-law, Roy Woodling, all rejoiced in the heavenly reunion.
Mary Allyene was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Jackson. She married Robert W. Hotop in November 1952.
She spent 25 years working at Sears before retiring. Retirement years were spent reading, crocheting, embroidering, playing bingo, working puzzles, and occasionally fishing with her husband.
Grieving family members are children, Robert (Kathy) Hotop Jr., Gina (Wendell) Hooper, Barbara Woodling and Mark Hotop; grandchildren, Heather, Donald and Maggie, Troy, Mary, Christopher (Jennifer), William, Nichole (Zach), Richard and Austin; great-grandchildren, Mark, Grant, Jonathan, Maya, Layla, Isabella and Amelia Rose; and great friends, Ken and Joyce Gibbar.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
