KELSO, Mo. -- Mary Margaret Hess, 66, of Kelso died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 7, 1946, in New Hamburg, Mo., to Linus Phillip and Regina Magdalen Compas Dirnberger. She and Charles Peter Hess were married Jan. 9, 1965, in New Hamburg.
Mary was valedictorian of the 1964 class at Kelly High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a eucharistic minister, sacristan, church lector and CCW at St. Joseph.
She was a title examiner 35 years at Southeast Missouri Title Co. and United Land Title. Mary loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Kevin (Carrie) Hess of Jonesboro, Ill., Timothy (Diane) Hess of Memphis, Tenn., Steven (Christy) Hess of Gordonville; a daughter, Pamela (Kelly) Allen of Egypt Mills; two brothers, Linus (Margie) Dirnberger of Liverpool, N.Y., Vernon (Francine) Dirnberger of Chesterfield, Mo.; two sisters, Carnetta (Don) VonderHaar of St. Louis, Germaine (Peck) Robert of Kelso; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Clyde Dirnberger.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus service at 7:15 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
