Mary George, 89, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born June 16, 1905, at Perryville, daughter of Dennis and Christina Zahner Maddock. She and Clyde Virgil George were married June 23, 1930, in St. Louis. He died Dec. 8, 1934.
George worked 35 years at General Motors in St. Louis, retiring in 1965. She moved back to Perryville in 1966 and then to Cape Girardeau in 1989. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Schmittzehe of Cape Girardeau, Elizabeth Kretzer of Lawton, Okla.; a brother, Bernard Maddock of Perryville; seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-9 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in St. Louis.
