Funeral service for Mary Louise Cardwell, 419 S. Hanover, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James AME Church. Rev. David Allen will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Cardwell, 84, died Wednesday, June 19, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 6, 1911, near Dutchtown, daughter of Charles Green and Mary Jane Holmes Wilson. She and Silas Walker Cardwell were married Dec. 24, 1930, at Jackson. He died May 13, 1976.
The Cardwells owned and operated Cardwell Sorghum Mill near Dutchtown until 1969. She was a member of St. James Church, Golden Age Senior Citizens, and Gordonville Extension Club.
Survivors include a son, Silas Jack Cardwell of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter, Louise Duncan of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Ruben Wilson of St. Louis; two sisters, Zelma Green of St. Louis, Lorraine Wilson of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
