Mary 'Betty' Maevers

Mary "Betty" Maevers, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born March 10, 1932, in Cape Girardeau to Erhardt and Edna Griffin Kain. She and Walter Maevers were married April 23, 1951.

Betty was baptized and confirmed at Hanover Lutheran Church. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Egypt Mills.

She is survived by her husband, Walter; son, Curtis (Duana) Maevers; son-in-law, Ronald Cotner; brother, Dean (Iris) Kain; sisters, Judy (Willard) Middleton and Brenda (Ben) McLain; grandchildren, Danielle (Brandon) Wallingford, Kyle (Jennifer) Maevers and Matthew (Jessica) Cotner; great-grandchildren, Audrey Maevers, Owen Cotner and Noah Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Cotner; sisters, Wanda Davidson and Virginia Boren; brothers, Charles and Glenn Kain; grandson, Justin Cotner.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church Egypt Mills, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Trinity Lutheran Church Egypt Mills Cemetery Fund.
