Marvin Dale Sides, 76, of Jackson passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 13, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Norman Hadley and Minnie Ethel Dalton Sides. He and Martha Sewing were married Nov. 30, 1979. She survives.

Marvin honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967. He worked 21 years for Jackson Police Department.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife, Martha Sides; five children, Kathy (Brent) Matthews, Steve (Amanda) Sides, Connie (Mike) Heath, Penny (Shawn) Hartle and Timothy (Alicia) Burroughs; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Dona) Causbie, Mackenzie Heath, Emily Heath, Makayla Burroughs, Colton Hartle, Adyson Hartle, Kerigan Jones and Taylor Thomason; a great-grandchild, Reighan Causbie; seven siblings, Genie (Cecil) Baker, Janey Harper, Sherry (Larry) Patrick, Geneva (Chad) Hartle, Steve (Myra) Sides, Sherman Sides and Nelda Alpert; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

A memorial visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday, May 15, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Jacob May will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the funeral home. Military honors will follow.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the donor’s choice of church or charity.
