PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marvin Elmer Mecker, 83, of Perryville died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 at his home.
He was born May 18, 1939, in Perryville to Elmer and Helen Buchheit Mecker.
Marvin and Eleanor E. Mattingly were married May 12, 1962, in Brewer, Missouri. She survives him.
Marvin was a lifelong farmer. He loved to go fishing and tell jokes.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and served six years in the National Guard.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianna (Brian) Koenig of Perryville and Darla (Timothy) Cobb of Lebanon, Illinois; five grandsons, Tyson Koenig of Cape Girardeau, Jarod (Jennifer) Koenig of Ozark, Missouri, Ryan Koenig of Perryville, and Nicholas Cobb and Alex (fiancee, Kenlea Meeker) Cobb, both of Lebanon; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Koenig, Rebekah Koenig and Elijah Koenig; three sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Winterberg of Perryville, Glenda (Lou) Eng of Denver and Shirley Mattingly of St. Mary, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Delano Mattingly; and two sisters-in-law, Sylvia (Joseph) Blessing and Virginia Fingers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Gerald Blessing officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Church or a charitable cause of your choice.
