Martin Gerard Hoffman Sr., 53, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, to Jerome Francis and Mary Orene Ballard Hoffman. He and Deborah Thiele were married Sept. 29, 1978, in Cape Girardeau.
Hoffman was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. He was part owner of Tractors Restaurant in Perryville, Mo. He had worked at the N'Orleans Restaurant in Cape Girardeau about 15 years. He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and loved to fish.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Orene Hoffman of Cape Girardeau; wife, Deborah Hoffman of Cape Girardeau; a son, Martin (Kim) Hoffman Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Jessica (Phillip) Hupp of Benton, Mo.; five brothers, Jerome F. (Jackie) Hoffman Jr. and Kenneth O. (Karen) Hoffman of Cape Girardeau, Joseph D. (Dollie) Hoffman of Jackson, Robert Hoffman and James (Kim) Hoffman of Cape Girardeau.
Also four sisters, Mary Jane (Hugo) Lang of Paducah, Ky., Margaret (Don) Reece of Olathe, Kan., Rebecca (Richard) Essner and Catherine (Rick) Fehr of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Erin Lacey, Abby, Bronson and Nolan Hupp, Lily and Katie Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by Knights of Columbus Council 1111 rosary.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary's Building on Faith Fund or Trinity Lutheran Church.
