SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Martin Henry Welter, 97, of Scott City died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 15, 1902, at Sikeston, son of Jacob P. Welter and Josephine Pfefferkorn Welter. He married Cecilia Frances Vanderfeltz Lix Sept. 15, 1956. She preceded him in death Aug. 8, 1985...

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Martin Henry Welter, 97, of Scott City died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 15, 1902, at Sikeston, son of Jacob P. Welter and Josephine Pfefferkorn Welter.

He married Cecilia Frances Vanderfeltz Lix Sept. 15, 1956. She preceded him in death Aug. 8, 1985.

He was a machine operator with M. E. Leming Lumber Co. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.

Survivors include two stepsons, Willard Lix of Orlando, Fla., and Geroid Lix, of Fruitland, Mo.; and one sister, Hermina Trinkler of Melville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery at Kelso.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home at Scott City today from 4-8 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
