ORAN -- Funeral Mass for Martha Clara Scheeter, formally of Oran, was held Saturday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with the Rev. Lewis Hejna officiating.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Oran was in charge of arrangements.

Scheeter, 82, died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was a resident of Fountainblue Lodge, 2001 N. Kingshighway, in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Anton and Ida Schlitt Glueck. She and Raymond John Scheeter were married Feb. 4, 1939. He died Sept. 15, 1977.

Scheeter retired as a nurse's aide at Chaffee General Hospital. She was a member of Guardian Angel Church and its St. Ann's Sodality, K.C. Ettes, and Senior Citizens Club, all in Oran, and Auxiliary to VFW Post 5368 at Morley.

Survivors include three sons, Tony and Kent Scheeter of Oran, Pete Scheeter of Garden City, Kan.; a daughter, Kay Urhahn of Oran; two sisters, Helen Trickey of Cape Girardeau, Catherine Dunn of Belleville, Ill.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.
