MARTHA CALLIS

THEBES, Ill. -- Martha Callis, 87, of Thebes and formerly of Miller City died Saturday, April 16, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Center at Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 25, 1912, at Miller City, daughter of Mide and Venus Morningstar Waterman. She and Sidney "Red" Callis were married in 1940. He died Feb. 2, 1995.

Callis was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church at Olive Branch.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Williams of Olive Branch and Mike Callis of Hecker; three daughters, Betty Williams and Cynthia Rivet, both of Thebes, and Judy Tanksley of Muskogee, Okla.; three sisters, Anna Mae Wright of South Roxanna, Nellie Wright of St. Louis and Rhea Sanford of Canyon, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home at Tamms.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Hester officiating. Burial will follow at Baumgard Cemetery at Miller City.
