MARTHA BOWERS

CHARLESTON -- Martha Bowers, 83, of Park Hills, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 1995, at her home.

She was born Oct. 28, 1911, in Wickliffe, Ky., daughter of William L. and Nellie Lee Forgey Goodin. She and Leslie Lowell Bowers Sr. were married Aug. 29, 1937. He died Aug. 23, 1990.

Bowers lived in Mississippi County many years, and taught school in the Wyatt and Dirk School Districts. She and her husband also operated a farm near Wyatt for 33 years. They moved to Park Hills after retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Esther.

Survivors include a son, Leslie Bowers Jr. of Park Hlls; a sister, Margaret McGaughey of Weiner, Ark.; three grandsons, and three great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Monday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harold Norton officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
