Martha Elizabeth "Blondie" Blackwell of 611 Themis died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was 81 years old.
She was born June 11, 1917, in Scott County, daughter of the late Albert and Nora Low Greer. On May 2, 1935, she married Earl Blackwell in Jackson. He died Sept. 1, 1956.
She was a member of Church of Christ and had worked at Haman's Sandwich Shop and at the International Shoe Co. After World War II, she worked until retirement at the Southeast Missourian Litho and Printing for 35 years.
She is survived by a sister, Glenda Rogers of Cape Girardeau, a nephew and three nieces. She was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Church of Christ, with David Bragg officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Hills Cemetery.
