Richard M. “Mark” Sides, 65, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 5, 1959, in Cape Girardeau, to Richard and LaDora Bishop Sides.
Mark was a 1977 graduate of Jackson High School. He owned and operated the former Cheyenne Construction and Midwest Builders and was most recently employed in maintenance at Boulder Properties.
Mark was a longtime member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was currently a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church.
Mark enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning and horseback riding and was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. His television favorites included "COPS", and gameshows, especially "Family Feud".
Loving survivors include three children, Jeremy Sides of Marshfield and Jordan (Ashley) Sides and Sierra (Jesse) Plumley of Jackson; five grandchildren, Aiden, Teaghan, Lilli, Brinley and Weston; his mother, LaDora (late Richard) Sides; sister, Leisa (Jack) Floyd of Jackson; nieces, Erica (Jake) Haff and Hannah Beasley; nephew, Aaron (Kirsten) Floyd; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joshua Sides; his father, Richard Sides; a nephew, Nathan Floyd; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Onis Clingingsmith Sides; and maternal grandparents, Archie and Margaret Bullard Bishop.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Don Estes will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m., Friday, June 28, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.
