MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Mark R. Hopkins, 63, of the Atlanta area, passed away April 10, 2011, at home following his courageous battle with cancer.
He graduated with honors with an interior design degree from the Memphis, Tenn., College of Art in 1971. Mark was an icon in the hospitality industry, moving from interior design with Nationwide Supply Co., Innkeepers Supply Co. and Design Alternatives (as owner) in Memphis to procurement with such prestigious companies as Harrah's Entertainment, Gaylord Entertainment and Intercontinental Hotels Group. He was an avid outdoors sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, golf and skeet shooting, of which he was a Tennessee state champion.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Shirley Raider Hopkins; one son, Joshua Hopkins; one daughter, Ashley Burns and husband Brandon of Atlanta; parents, Charles and Dixie Hopkins of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Gregg Hopkins and wife Ann of St. Louis; and one sister, Sarah Hopkins of Cape Girardeau.
Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Sam Hopkins.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery in Marble Hill.
Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
