MORLEY -- Marjorie Louise Matthews, 81, of Morley died Saturday, July 29, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 20, 1913, at Linden, Tenn., the daughter of Alfred Thomas and Nancy Frances Smith Lawrence. On Sept. 14, 1946, she married Lewis William Matthews. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1973.
Matthews was a nurse at the V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff until her retirement. She was a member of the Morley Baptist Church, Morley Study Club, Morley Order of Eastern Star Chapter 48 and the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 5638.
Survivors include two stepsons, Richard Matthews of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Paul Matthews of Wyoming, and four sisters, Hazel Flowers of Tiptonville, Tenn., and Jessie Pierce, Stella Pohl and Oma Anderson, all of Muskegon, Mich.
She also was preceded in death by a son and five brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Morley Baptist Church, with the Rev. Delbert Bishop and the Rev. Tom Ayers officiating. Burial will be at the Old Morley Cemetery.
