Marilyn Marie Riehn, 85, of Millersville passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Marilyn was born April 9, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of the late Edvene and Anita Henry Smith. She and Jerry F. Riehn were married Nov. 26, 1960. Their union blessed them with a son, Mark Riehn. Jerry preceded her in death March 20, 2003.
She attended Roberts School near Oak Ridge through her eighth-grade year and then attended Jackson High School, graduating in 1956. She worked for the former Lowenbaum Dress shop. After the birth of her son, she stayed home as a devoted mother and homemaker.
Marilyn was a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and worked in the nursery for many years. She also watched and took care of many babies and children in her home. She enjoyed flower gardening, collecting salt and pepper shakers and decorating her home for each holiday.
Loving survivors include a son, Mark (Tina) Riehn of Millersville; grandson, John Riehn of Millersville; brother, Gary (Shirl) Smith of Jackson; and four sisters-in-law, Betty Williamson, Betty Riehn, Judy Riehn and Helen Riehn.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jerry, Marilyn was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carol Smith.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Casebolt officiating. Burial will follow in Niswonger Church Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Niswonger Church Cemetery or Caney Fork Baptist Church.
