ORAN, Mo. — Marietta Jane Graviett passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Oran to Paul and Irmina Gosche Pobst.

She married Billy Lee Graviett on May 11, 1948, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran. Bill passed away Oct. 25, 1997. She was also known as "Monie" by many friends and family.

Marietta lived most of her life in the house where she was born in Caney, Missouri, a suburb of Oran. She loved farming and was a hard-working farmer's wife who drove tractors, combines and cotton pickers. Growing up, she worked the fields with her dad and milked cows with her mom. She and Bill ran a truck farm, growing tomatoes, sweet corn, watermelons, cantaloupes and even okra, which were sold to local grocery stores.

Marietta was a member of Guardian Angel Church in Oran all of her life. She belonged to St. Ann's Sodality and loved her time in prayer at Mass. She loved her family above all things here on this earth, and knew every birthday, anniversary and special occasion in each one's life. She truly was a prayer warrior and a blessing to all who knew her.

Bill and Marietta had seven children: Linda (Michael) Wheeler and Robert (Carla) Graviett of Oran; Richard (Norma) Graviett of Chaffee, Missouri; Marilyn (Joe) Gilmore, Mary Lou (Tony) Dell and Paula (Donnie) Bouge of Cape Girardeau; and Alan (Julie) Graviett of Mandeville, Louisiana.
