MARIE TRANTER

Marie Tranter, 60, of Jackson, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Nov. 22, 1939, at St. Louis, daughter of Sylvester and Alfreda A. Marshall Williams. She and John Wesley Tranter were married Aug. 15, 1969, at Washburn, Mo. He died Dec. 17, 1990.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary of Cape Girardeau and Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University. She worked for Delta Cos. in Cape Girardeau as an accounts receivable and collection manager for 32 years.

Survivors include a stepson and daughter-in-law, Wes and Babs Tranter of Jackson; a cousin, Fran Eccardt of St. Louis; two stepgrandchildren, Kristin (Walter) Johnston of Jackson and Lt. j.g. Kent (Margene) Tranter of Norfolk, Va.; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Evan and Braden Johnston, both of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

Funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ralph J. Duffner officiating.

Entombment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Monsignor Ed Eftink officiating.
