PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie Anna Theiss, 86, of Perryville died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville. She was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Seventy-Six, Mo., daughter of August Henry and Emma Mathilda Mahnken Klaus. She and the Rev. Louis C. Theiss were married June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death April 3, 2011...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie Anna Theiss, 86, of Perryville died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.

She was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Seventy-Six, Mo., daughter of August Henry and Emma Mathilda Mahnken Klaus. She and the Rev. Louis C. Theiss were married June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death April 3, 2011.

Marie was a wife, mother, school teacher and day care provider. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Women's Missionary League, Salem Senior Servants in Farrar, Mo., and volunteered at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. John and Maggie Theiss of Brooks, Alberta, Canada, David and Maxine Theiss of Farrar, the Rev. Steven and Susan Theiss of Columbia, Ill., and Joel and Beth Theiss of Raleigh, N.C.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Rhoda and the Rev. David Rempfer of Blairstown, Iowa, Selma and Richard Thole of Perryville, Ruth and the Rev. Timothy Rynearson of Brookings, S.D., Dorothy and Jeffrey Albrecht of Imperial, Mo., and Eunice and the Rev. Jose Rodriguez of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Elvira Roth of Wittenberg, Mo.; 31 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, a sister, two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to United in Christ Lutheran School or Salem Lutheran Church.
