CHARLESTON -- Marie Jewel Rapert, 70, of Charleston died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Bertrand Retirement Facility.
She was born May 30, 1929, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of the Rev. W.S. and Cleo Williams Bailey. She and Aaron E. Rapert were married Dec. 11, 1947.
Rapert was employed 12 years with DAEOC Head Start Program and then worked in the jewelry department at Wal-Mart until retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Blodgett Baptist Church, attended Bridge United Methodist Church and served as pianist at both churches.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, Allen Rapert of Gainesville, Texas, Ronnie Rapert of Whitesboro, Texas, Bruce and Ricky Rapert of Sikeston, Denis Rapert of Charleston; a daughter, Brenda Staggs of Sikeston; a sister, Geneve Voelker of Sikeston; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Revs. Jerry Willer and George Alsup will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
