MARBLE HILL -- Marie Chandler, 97, of Marble Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1993, at Bond Nursing Care Center.
She was born Jan. 24, 1896, in Marble Hill, daughter of Francis M. and Lucy Swift Wells. She and Homer D. Chandler were married April 4, 1921. He died Feb. 8, 1972.
Chandler attended Will Mayfield College, and received a music degree from Hardin College at Mexico, Mo. She taught at public schools in Mariana, Ark., and gave private piano lessons in her home more than 50 years.
She was a member of Lutesville Presbyterian Church of Marble Hill, Presbyterian Women, and was organist more than 50 years. She was a charter member of Marble Hill Study Club GFWC, member of Victory Chapter 431 Order of Eastern Star, and life member of Bollinger County Historical Society.
Survivors include two nephews, Robert Wells of Jefferson City, Charles Sutton of Portland, Ore., and a niece, Sally Mendelshon of Chatsworth, Calif.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Liley Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. The Rev. C.E. Brasington will officiate, with entombment in the family mausoleum in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
