Margaret Austin, 72, of Cape Girardeau passed away at her home Monday, Dec. 7, 2020. She was born in Cape Girardeau Oct. 7, 1948, to Raymond and Wilma Heider Barks. She married Edward Austin on Jan. 25, 1969. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church and later St. Andrew Lutheran Church. After retiring from Kmart, she spent her time enjoying her many grandchildren...

Margaret Austin, 72, of Cape Girardeau passed away at her home Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.

She was born in Cape Girardeau Oct. 7, 1948, to Raymond and Wilma Heider Barks. She married Edward Austin on Jan. 25, 1969.

She attended Trinity Lutheran Church and later St. Andrew Lutheran Church. After retiring from Kmart, she spent her time enjoying her many grandchildren.

Margaret was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and wife and will be greatly missed by her kids, grandkids and husband.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Austin; two sons, Travis Austin (Amy Hayden) and Ryan (Jennifer) Austin; daughter, Crystal Hill; six grandchildren, Tyler Elfrank, Chelsea Hayden, K'alea Prentiss, Ava Austin, Josephine Austin and Lily Mohundro; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda McClain and Carolyn Baron; other relatives and many friends.

Private funeral services will be held and interment will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. A celebration of Margaret's life is planned after the pandemic has passed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, www.semopets.org/donate.
