Mamie G. Cook, 99, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 17, 1906, in Bollinger County, Mo., daughter of William Lee and Sofrona Jane Pierce Zimmerman. She and Oscar Burette "Cookie" Cook were married on Aug. 8, 1923, in Benton. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1997...

Mamie G. Cook, 99, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 17, 1906, in Bollinger County, Mo., daughter of William Lee and Sofrona Jane Pierce Zimmerman. She and Oscar Burette "Cookie" Cook were married on Aug. 8, 1923, in Benton. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1997.

Mrs. Cook enjoyed helping sew at May Greene School and playing volleyball with the parents at the school. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Crites of Cape Girardeau; one great-grandson, Scott Christopher Smith and wife, Cathy, of Memphis, Tenn.; two great-great grandsons, Justin and Joshua Smith, both of Memphis.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Janey Crites Harrison, on May 16, 1993; three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home with the Dr. Derek Staples officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
