Malby Raymond Gordon, 93, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1991, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
He was born Dec. 25, 1987, in Anna, Ill., son of John C. and Rosella Barringer Gordon. He and Helen Beatrice Wood were married May 31, 1927, in Carbondale, Ill. She died April 15, 1990.
Gordon taught school in Southern Illinois seven years, worked for Illinois Central Railroad 11 years, worked at Mt. Carmel News Agency 13 years, and owned and operated a hardware store in Carbondale. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1979 from Carbondale, and was a member of First Baptist Church here.
Survivors include a brother, Ralph Gordon of Inman, S.C.; two sisters, Dimple Hewitt and Georgia Steinke of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Ed Brasington will officiate, with burial in Murdale Gardens of Memory near Carbondale.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 tonight.
