CAIRO, Ill. -- Madelle F. Walker, 66, of Cairo died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 18, 1934, in Cairo, the daughter of Ernest and Axie Jones. She married Elder Odies Walker on Oct. 11, 1975. He survives.
She was a former member of the Christ Temple Church of God in Christ in Cairo and a current member of the Christ Holy Temple Church of God Anchored in Christ in Cairo, where her husband is pastor.
She was a graduate of the Morris Academy School of Beauty Culture of Chicago. She received her associate's degree in nursing in 1984. At the time of her death she was employed as a nurse at the Meridian Manor Nursing home in Mounds, Ill.
She also is survived by a son, Derrick Walker; a sister, Shirley Boyd of Chicago; a half-brother, Gregory Jones of Cairo; and two grandchildren.
She will lie in state at the Christ Holy Temple Church of God Anchored in Christ in Cairo after 2 p.m. Sunday.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. at the church with Elder Odies Walker and the Rev. Wayne A. Lenox officiating.
Burial will be Monday at the Spencer Heights Memorial Park Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
Arrangements are under the direction of Algee Memorial Chapel in Cairo.
