SIKESTON -- Madeline Mackley Grant, 76, of Sikeston died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born March 24, 1921, at Blodgett, daughter of Roy Henry and Alma Hutchison Mackley.
She married Sherman E. Grant on Feb. 12, 1941, at Cape Girardeau. He died on June 29, 1977.
She was active in family business operations and was a community volunteer.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and attended graduate school at the University of Iowa.
She was a teacher and a volunteer and board member for various educational philanthropies.
She was an active supporter of the Missouri Delta Medical Center, serving as a volunteer. She was secretary of the hospital's foundation board and a member of the hospital's medical ethics committee.
She taught Sunday school classes for 45 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.
She is survived by a son, Gary M. Grant of St. Louis.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Dempster Memorial Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Jim Davis will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date.
