Mable Johnson

NEWTON, Iowa -- Mable Johnson, 75, of Newton and formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at the Boone Hospital Center at Columbia, Mo.

She was born Dec. 15, 1923, at Marianna, Ark., daughter of Will and Susie English Smith. She was a member of the Christ Apostolic Temple at Columbia.

She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Johnson of Cairo, Ill., Teola Wright of Columbia and Martha Dobbins of Denver, Colo.; three sons, Floyd Johnson of Newton, Willie Johnson of Cairo and Joseph Johnson of Columbia; a sister, Maxine English of Fulton, Mo.; 28 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the Holly Grove Baptist Church at Wyatt. The Rev. T.R. Tyus will officiate, with burial to follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston.
