CHAFFEE -- Funeral service for Mable Grissom of Chaffee will be held at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Randon Grissom will officiate, with burial in Friend Cemetery at Oran.

Grissom, 69, died Monday, June 24, 1996, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 6, 1927, near Oran, daughter of Fred and Eunice Mable Slack DeHart. She and Charles "Gunner" Grissom were married Oct. 7, 1968. He died Feb. 7, 1996.

Grissom owned and operated Mable's Cafe, retiring in 1990. She was a greeter at Wal-Mart from 1993-95. She was a member of First Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary to Post 389, VFW Auxiliary to Post 3127, River City CB Club, and Country Doers, all in Chaffee.

Survivors include two sons, Landon Grissom of Delta, Randon Grissom of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Kay Boddy of Coweta, Okla.; two brothers, Pat DeHart of St. Louis, Fred DeHart Jr. of Bloomsdale; four sisters, Ivoughn Zingrich of St. Louis, Alice Sailors of Redding, Calif., Betty Fenton of Sikeston, Donnia Chapman of Pinckneyville, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
