KARNAK, Ill. -- Funeral for Mabel Alice Shreves of Karnak will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Boaz Pentecostal Church. The Revs. Flo Patrick, Alvin Thomas and Eugene McIntosh will officiate. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery at Boaz.
Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak from 6-9 p.m. today.
Shreves, 93, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
She was born June 22, 1906, in Massac County, daughter of Roscoe and Lora Madden Thomas. She married George Shreves Dec. 18, 1920.
Shreves formerly owned and operated various restaurants in the Karnak area. She also was head cook at Logan School 18 years. She was a member of Boaz Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Helen Larrison of Metropolis, Alice Burns of Davenport, Iowa, Georgia "Rinky" McIntosh of Boaz; two brothers, Charles Thomas of Davenport, the Rev. Alvin Thomas of Boaz; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, two brothers and four sisters.
