Mabel L. Ritter, 89, of Chateau Girardeau, formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, May 5, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born July 25, 1903, at Kurreville, daughter of Monroe and Albenia Clingingsmith Kurre. She and Clarence J. "Brick" Ritter were married June 27, 1930, at Jackson. He died Oct. 21, 1976.
Ritter taught school 21 years, 13 of those at Jackson. She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, the choir, Women's Fellowship, and founded the Bethany Circle. She was a member of the Literary Club, Jackson Branch of American Association of University Women, SEMO Diabetes Association, and served on the library board at Jackson.
Survivors include a son, Dr. C. John Ritter of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Mary Niemann of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Dean Walker of Jackson; two sisters, Hazel Miller of Oak Ridge, Viola Putz of Jackson; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Emanuel United Church of Christ. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
