Mabel M. Green, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born March 7, 1924, in Egypt Mills, to Sherman and Leona Foeste Maevers. She and James Green were married Oct. 10, 1941, at Egypt Mills. He preceded her in death June 6, 2014.
Mabel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills. She worked at International Shoe Co. 40 years, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include a son, James W. (Debra) Green Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Pam (John) Myers of Cape Girardeau and Tori (Mike) Pobst of Oran, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Jimmy (Lacie) Griffaw, Clayton Myers, Jami and Jayden Pobst; eight great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, Jerry (Missy) Laxton and Jamie (Kevin) Halter; five great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Birdie (Tom) Fortenberry; and a brother, Gene (Phyllis) Maevers, all of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
A private entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park and Mausoleum at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
