COMMERCE -- Funeral service for Lyman Boyd Simmons of Commerce will be held at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Hurstle Laxton will officiate, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery here.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to service time.
Simmons, 78, died Thursday, June 3, 1993, at his home.
He was born Dec. 24, 1914, at Benton, son of Thomas Marion and Mina Edith Jacobs Simmons. He and Nellie Swope were married Oct. 29, 1939, at Benton. She died Jan. 5, 1952.
Simmons had been an oiler, and was retired from Cargill Carriers.
Survivors include three sons, Roy Dale Simmons of Commerce, Boyd Simmons of Scott City, Tom Simmons of St. Louis; a daughter, Nevada Moore of Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers, J.D. Simmons of Scott City, J.W. Simmons of Cape Girardeau, Eldon Simmons of Flint, Mich., Bill Simmons of Benton; a sister, Laverne Laxton of Richmond, Ky.; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
