ADVANCE -- Lyla Leona Zimmerman, 74, of Advance, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Streator, Ill., daughter of Ralph W. and Nina Lloyd Baker. She first married Leeman Shell Dec. 16, 1934, who died Aug. 30, 1960. She later married R.O. Zimmerman in August 1962. He died Oct. 23, 1981.
Zimmerman was a member of Christian Life Church here, and had served on the board of directors at Mid-America Teen Challenge in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a son, Don Shell of Dittmer; four daughters, Charlotte Woodland of Crestwood, Vivian Rhodes, Sandy Long and Carol Ritter, all of Advance; a brother, Ralph Baker of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Sarah Yorty of Harvester, Shirley Back of St. Charles; 21 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and sister.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Tony Badami will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Clinton Woodfin. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
A memorial celebration will be held at 8:30 tonight at Christian Life Church.
