JACKSON, Mo. -- Lydia A. Klaus, 98, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born June 8, 1902, in Arnsberg, Mo., daughter of Charles and Mary Dambach Dickmann. She and Alvin F. Klaus were married Feb. 1, 1922. He died Aug. 12, 1965...

JACKSON, Mo. -- Lydia A. Klaus, 98, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 8, 1902, in Arnsberg, Mo., daughter of Charles and Mary Dambach Dickmann. She and Alvin F. Klaus were married Feb. 1, 1922. He died Aug. 12, 1965.

The family moved to Jackson in 1944 from their farm at Friedheim, Mo. She cooked for inmates 10 years when her husband was sheriff of Cape Girardeau County. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Klaus of Arnold, Mo., Willard Klaus of Jackson; a daughter, Vernalee Mouser of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild, two brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time.

McCombs Funeral Home at Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
