MATTHEWS -- Lucy Alma Yancy, 78, of Matthews died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Feb. 29, 1920, at Elaine, Ark., daughter of Robert Steven and Harriet Ann Guthrie Walker. She and Roy Delbert Yancy were married on March 25, 1948, at Helena, Ark. He died Nov. 27, 1973.
She was a homemaker and had been an elementary school teacher at Matthews School in Matthews.
She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Association of the church.
Survivors include a son, Harold Yancy of Sikeston; two daughters, Norma Busby of Anna, Ill., and Kathy Green of LaForge; two sisters, Margaret Frazier of Memphis, Tenn., and Ruth Garrison of Monticello, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel. The Rev. Curt Bellinger will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Cecil Adams, with burial in Matthews Cemetery.
