MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Lucille Hudson, 99, of Mound City died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 21, 1901, at Hazelwood, Ky., daughter of A.B. and Ophelia McCown. She and I.J. Hudson Jr. were married in 1925.
Hudson retired as vice president of the Tri-City Transportation Co. and was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church.
She also worked as a postal clerk, worked in the Pulaski County Courthouse preparing tax books, served on the state church board and was one of three women who were the first to serve on the federal grand jury in East St. Louis, Ill.
Survivors include two sons, Ira J. Hudson III and Robert E. Hudson, both of Mound City; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Dr. Larry L. Potts will officiate, with burial in Beechwood Cemetery.
