Lucille F. Grojean, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at her home.
She was born March 18, 1934, in Cape Girardeau to George M. and Leona M. Heisserer Diebold. She and Francis Grojean were married May 21, 1955, at Kelso, Missouri. He preceded her in death May 29, 2012.
Lucille was a graduate of St. Mary High School and was the class valedictorian.
She was the school secretary for Notre Dame High School for 22 years from 1970 to 1992. She previously had worked at the Met Life office in Cape Girardeau, as well as working as a seamstress many years before and while working at Notre Dame.
She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, the Women's Council at St. Vincent's, the Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary for more than 40 years where she served 10,000 volunteer hours. Additionally, she volunteered with the Notre Dame Foundation after her retirement.
Survivors include daughters Karen Welker (Daniel) and Linda Farrow of Cape Girardeau; sons Richard Grojean (Laurie) of Chesterfield, Missouri, and Stephen Grojean (Michelle) of St. Charles, Missouri; brother Lawrence Diebold (Christina) of Scott City; sisters Sister Marie Diebold of Wheaton, Illinois, and Rita Landewee (Ed) of Scott City; grandchildren Ryan and Andrew Welker and Emily Glueck (Joshua), Eric and Nathan Farrow, Justin (Amy), Alexander (fiancee, Amber), Andrea and Blake Grojean and Meghan and Bridget Grojean; and great-grandchildren Alyssa and Benjamin Grojean.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers and rosary will be at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Notre Dame High School Education Fund Foundation or Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary.
