ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lucas William Georger of Advance was born Dec. 16, 1917, at Kelso, Mo., the son of Charles and Louise Schoen Grojean, and passed away Sept. 22, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Lucas farmed in the Advance area for more than 40 years. ...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Lucas William Georger of Advance was born Dec. 16, 1917, at Kelso, Mo., the son of Charles and Louise Schoen Grojean, and passed away Sept. 22, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Lucas farmed in the Advance area for more than 40 years. Upon retirement, he started a Christmas tree farm and also raised and sold blackberries for many years. He was a member of St. Jospeh Catholic Church since 1960. He was baptized in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.

Lucas and Dorothy Mae Lowes were united in marriage Oct. 26, 1946, at Cape Girardeau, and she preceded him in death Jan. 1, 1991.

Survivors include four sons, Roy (Mickey) Georger of Metropolis, Ill., Elmer (Cecilia) Georger of Advance and Leopold, Mo., Gary (Helen) Georger of Advance, Randy Georger of Perryville, Mo.; two daughters, Joyce (Michael) Reed of Kelso, Diann (Pete) Bradshaw-Ulmer of Scott City; three sisters, Sister Elaine Georger of Wheaton, Ill., Alvena (Don) Lett of Scott City, Marina Georger of Chaffee, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Rose Georger of Cape Girardeau; 16 grandchildren, Glen Georger, Karen Owens, Michael Georger, Katrina Shoemaker, Amy Pohlman, Laura Georger, Sarah Georger, Matthew Reed, Lisa Georger, Keith Georger, Christopher Bradshaw, Rebecca Reed, Eric Georger, Olivia Bradshaw, Rachel Reed, Zachary Bradshaw; seven stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Lucas Georger, Logan Georger, Dixie Shoemaker, Wyatt Owens, Jacob Nussbaum; and six great-stepgrandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Mat and Joe Georger; three sisters, Sister Augusta, Marie Georger, Coena Dambach; and a daughter-in-law, Bernice Trankle Georger.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. today, followed the Knights of Columbus rosary.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Advance, with the Rev. Fred Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Morgan Memorial Park at Advance.
