JONESBORO, Ill. -- Loyd F. Harvel, 80, of Jonesboro died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born Dec. 1, 1923, in DeSoto, Ill., son of Harry James and Bessie Jane Davis Harvel. He and JoEtta Jordan were married May 3, 1947. She died Jan. 14, 1992.
Harvel was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 304 AF&AM in Bethalto, Ill., and life member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Ill.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Harvel of Jonesboro; a brother, Charles Harvel of Tamms, Ill.; two sisters, Hazel Dolanski of Wisconsin, Mary Mitchell of Graham, N.C.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Danny Miller and Bobby Richardson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Dongola, Ill., with full military honors by VFW Post 3455.
