Louise Bender Roth, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Life Care Centers of Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Cape Girardeau, to Martin G. and Elinor Wilder Bender. She and Walter Roth were married April 14, 1950, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death March 26, 2003.
Louise was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran School, Central High School, and received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University.
She taught at Washington School in Cape Girardeau a number of years. She was a member of Faculty Dames and Copper Dome Society at Southeast University.
Survivors include a son, Martin (Betty Detjen Pingel) Roth of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Edward M. (Kay) Bender and Kenneth E. (Martha) Bender; a sister, Margaret Bender Cruce; a grandchild, Christopher Martin Roth, all of Cape Girardeau; two stepgrandchildren, Brian Pingel of Las Vegas and Kevin (Laura) Pingel of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Walter Wilder Roth.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
