Louise D. Duncan, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away surrounded by family at her home Sunday, June 13, 2021. She was born April 22, 1931, near Dutchtown to the late Silas and Mary Wilson Cardwell. She was married to the late James Duncan. Louise was a longtime member of St. James A.M.E. Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed...

Louise D. Duncan, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away surrounded by family at her home Sunday, June 13, 2021.

She was born April 22, 1931, near Dutchtown to the late Silas and Mary Wilson Cardwell. She was married to the late James Duncan.

Louise was a longtime member of St. James A.M.E. Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Mary "Yvonne" Johnson of Cape Girardeau; brother, Silas Jack Cardwell of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Anthony (wife, LaTicia) Robinson, Marshall Egson (friend, Angela Smith) and Kyley Louise Egson-Merisier (husband, Gasner); 17 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; nephews, who she raised like her sons, Melvin Neal and Ricky Neal Cardwell; close friends, Angela Smith and Dr. Frank Nickell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Duncan.

Home-going celebration will be at noon Friday at St. James A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Renita Green officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
