Louis Anthony "Butch" Heisserer, 85, of Scott City passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Fornfelt, Mo., the son of Louis William and Carolina Mary Heuring Heisserer. He and Alene Viola Raines were married Oct. 6, 1951, in Scott City.
Butch was a lifelong farmer and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso, Mo., and Knights of Columbus Council 6420 and its fourth degree assembly 2283. He was a former member of the Scott City Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Connie (Glenn) Payne; six sons, Ralph (Beth) Heisserer and Tom (Lynda) Heisserer of Kelso, Chris (Tina) Heisserer of Advance, Mo., Dennis (Dona) Heisserer of Chaffee, Mo., Greg (Melinda) Heisserer of Scott City and Doug (Mary Ann) Heisserer of Missoula, Mont.; a sister, Lillian (Doris) Smith of Scott City; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Heisserer, and an infant sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. A parish prayer and Knights of Columbus service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
