Lou Maevers, 88, of Jackson died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Aug. 20, 1916, at Millersville, daughter of Burney O. and Avis Limbaugh Seabaugh. She and Hubert Welker were married in 1936. He died in 1971. She later married Norman Maevers in 1974, who died in 1995...

Lou Maevers, 88, of Jackson died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 20, 1916, at Millersville, daughter of Burney O. and Avis Limbaugh Seabaugh. She and Hubert Welker were married in 1936. He died in 1971. She later married Norman Maevers in 1974, who died in 1995.

Mrs. Maevers was a cook and volunteer four years at Jackson Senior Center. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aide, quilting club, and PTL. She was a volunteer with United Way, and member of Cape Girardeau Women's Bowling Association.

Survivors include three grandchildren and spouses, Robyn (Ken) Hosp and Lysa (Scott) Rhodes of Jackson, Glenn (Stephanie) Welker of Millers-ville; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Gene Welker; four brothers, Truman, Jesse, Ora and Ernest; and two sisters, Laura and Reva.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Salem United Methodist Cemetery Fund.
