PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Loretta M. Moeckel, 76, of Perryville died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at her home.
She was born July 11, 1932, in Jacob, Ill., daughter of Alfonze and Flora Grode Heines. She and Dr. Russell J. Moeckel were married Nov. 10, 1951. He died Dec. 6, 1994.
Moeckel was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a volunteer church librarian and part-time church secretary. She was a member of Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Perry County District 32 School Board and the Red Hat Society.
She was a Girl Scout leader, member of Otahki Council Board and recipient of the Girl Scouts Thanks Badge.
Moeckel was an avid golfer, member of Perryville Country Club Board and served as board secretary. She was instrumental in organizing Saxony Lutheran High School's fund-raising golf tournament.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Keith (Shelly) Moeckel of Perryville; two daughters, Vicky (Bill) Surman of Lee's Summit, Mo., Toni (Duane) Moll of Cape Girardeau; and eight grandchildren, Tosha, Ryan and Alissa Moeckel, Ben Surman, Karrie, Kirstin, Evan and Hayden Moll.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials be made to Immanuel Lutheran School or Girl Scouts.
