Loretta Hamilton

Loretta Dora Hamilton, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Aug. 27, 1922 at New Hamburg, Mo., daughter of Otto Charles and Mamie Katie Westrich Scheeter.

She and Clyde E. Hamilton were married Oct. 19, 1946, at St. Louis. He died Oct. 14, 2001.

She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Prosser of Atlanta and Cathy Deffendall of St. Louis; five brothers, Ervin Scheeter of Benton, Mo., Ed Schetter and Ken Scheeter of Chaffee, Mo., Herbert Scheeter of Cape Girardeau and Alvin Scheeter of Danville, Ind.; four sisters, Arabella Stike of St. Louis, Lois Eastwood and Rilla Pobst of Chaffee and Ada Lee Hasenkamp of Benton; a grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent De Paul Church, with the Rev. Charles Prost officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
