Loretta Blattel, 84, formerly of Arbor, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 6, 1933, in Leopold, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Clara DeBrock Jansen. Loretta and Herbert L. Blattel were united in marriage Oct. 27, 1951, and he preceded her in death Feb. 8, 2006.
Loretta and Herbert owned a farm at Arbor.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Advance, Missouri, and PCCW.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. She retired after 32 years of teaching. She taught at Immaculate Conception, Leopold and Delta schools throughout her career.
Survivors include two son, Herbert (Wanda) Blattel and Robert (Carla) Blattel; two daughters, LaDonna (Lindel) Lesch and Mary Jane (Kenneth) Kidd; 13 grandchildren, Amy (Mitchell) White, Andy (Jody) Blattel, Luke Blattel, Cody (Taylor) Blattel, Janie (Rich) Kirkpatrick, Missi (Jay) Parks, Robbie (Amanda) Adams, Gina (Richard) Fletcher, Chris Blattel, Sara (Eddie) Green, Seth Blattel, Jessica (Kevin) Mier and Wyatt Kidd; a stepgrandchild, Chaundra (Mike) Mason; 20 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; five great-stepgrandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way; three great-great-stepgrandchildren; a brother, Arnold (Mary) Jansen; five sisters, Clara Macke, Agnes (Leo) Broshuis, Rose (Ben) Macke, Sister Mary Jane Jansen and Nettie (Marvin) Surface; and three sisters-in-law, Irene Blattel, Ramona Glastetter and Karen Jansen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Adeline Vandeven and Dorothy Hinkebein; a brother, Robert Jansen; a son-in-law, Robert Adams; and six brothers-in-law, Louis Hinkebein, Lawrence Macke, Charles Blattel, Cornelius Blattel, Sylvester Glastetter and Irvin Vandeven.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. Rosary service will be at 4 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Advance, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Advance.
