Loren P. Miller of Port Washington, Wis. passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon, Wis. at the age of 60. Mr. Miller was born on Aug. 16, 1939 in Alton, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Catherine VerHouef Miller. He married Diana Edwards on Oct. 28, 1961 at Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Mr. Miller was an experienced bank executive, serving as president of First National Bank of Cape Girardeau, Mo., from 1992-1993. He was a consultant with First National Bank of Malden, Mo., until his disability in 1994.
His career included 23 years with First National Bank in Sioux City, Iowa, where he served in various capacities from 1961 to 1982. At First National Bank & Trust Co. of Ada, Okla., from 1982-1989, he served as president of the bank and was vice president of First Ada Bankshares, Inc. He was senior consultant at Systematics Inc. in Little Rock, Ark., from 1989-1992. Mr. Miller was quite active in the community. In Sioux City, Iowa he served as Little League Coach and Treasurer for seven years, was a Scout Leader for five years, a member and treasurer of Sertoma International, a member of Chamber of Commerce, a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a member of Knights of Columbus and a member of Kiwanis. In Ada, Okla. He was a member of Briles Foundation/Trustee, Knights of Columbus, member of Vice President of Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the Oak Hills Country Club and instructor at East Central University. At St. Joseph's Catholic Church he served on the Parish Council and the Finance Committee. Mr. Miller was a graduate of Paullina High School, attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and the University of Iowa in Iowa City where he majored in Civil Engineering. He was a graduate of the School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961 Private First Class at Fort Belvoir, Va.
He is survived by his wife; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Kirk and Ginni Miller of Milwaukee, Wis. and Keith and Dana Miller of Grafton, Wis.; four grandchildren, Samuel, Henry, Janelle and Thatcher; his mother, Catherine Miller of Paullina, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis (Kenneth) Sholly of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Carolyn Manna of West Des Moines, Iowa, Janice Sage of Paullina, Iowa, and Kay (Rodney) Carlson of Paullina, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Ray) Frazee of Worthington, Minn., Madonna (Norm) Semple of Sioux City, Iowa, Joyce (Don) McPeek of Sioux City, Iowa, Patricia (Roland) Bientema of Fort Worth, Tex., Rosella (Gary) Mannion of Alto Loma, Calif., Duane Edwards of Denver, Colo., John (Jolene) Edwards of Sioux City, Iowa and Randall (Sue) Edwards of Jefferson, S.D. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence; brother-in-law, Glen Edwards and sister-in-law, Barbara Edwards. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 26, 1999 in Granville, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville, Iowa. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
